I have been away from this board for a while and always come back to it sooner or later.
I stopped my Lyme treatment about 3 years ago after 4.5 years of being treated by a wonderful dr. in Louisiana. He tried just about everything and realized that I wasn't going to get any better.
My question is, how do I know when it's Lyme and when it's something else? When do I pursue this dreaded illness and when do you just give up and call it a day?
For the past few years, I've had several issues from another possible MS diagnosis, to memory loss, to anemia, jaundice and incontinence.
I don't know where to turn anymore for help. I am so sick of being sick!
I've had 2 surgeries and a weekend hospital stay for a GI bleed, all within the past 3 months!
My biggest problem is that I'm in Texas and there's only one doctor who treats Lyme.
Should I just deal with the symptoms or start the search again for another doctor?
Thank you!

My opinion - with the history and symptoms you're describing, I think you should find a Lyme doctor who knows how to treat you, as in take a history,
run some tests to see your chemistry, and try treatment that's going to make a difference. We need to find out what works for us.
I don't find your question stupid at all. We so often need information and feedback to make decisions.

I notice you're in Texas. Have you ever been tested for West Nile Virus?

No Jordana, Never been tested for WNV- to my knowledge.

Might be something to look into. WNV can persist and cause an illness that sounds a lot like Lyme. The medical establishment thinks it's untreatable but people have recovered.
