My body always burns with neuropathy, but tetracycline is causing a different kind of burning. Kinda like a fever, but definitely not a fever. Almost like a bad sunburn maybe? I feel it starting within minutes of taking the pill.
Anyone know why this might be happening?

Hate to say it but that sounds like an allergic or sensitivity reaction; especially since it happens as you say "within minutes."
Just because there's sensitivity though doesn't mean it's not doing the job.

Yeah, it does feel like some sort of sensitivity. It doesn't seem like an allergy really, thankfully. It happens quick and increases in intensity as more gets absorbed by my stomach.

. Wouldn't be enough to make me quit.
But have you experimented with antihistamines? Maybe one of those with the abx would help.

I'd be drinking some nettle tea.

I am taking tetracycline (and malarone) too. Since starting it, I have noticed a few more sweats at different times. But I am not getting that burning you are describing. I would definitely let your LLMD know about this. Perhaps a variation of this med would be better suited for you.

I have full body small fiber neuropathy. When I took Minocycline it flared all my neuropathy symptoms. My whole body burned more intensely than normal. It's not an allergic reaction. Some antibiotics will flair neuropathy symptoms. Stop taking it and call your doctor so they can prescribe something else.

Thanks all. I think it might've been a flair of some strange kind. I do have full-body neuropathy too. I persisted and the burning got less intense each time. Maybe my inflamed nerves soaked it all up pretty quickly, and maybe that's why it burned. Doxy and mino never did anything like this.
I did take a break from it today, just to give my body a short break. Also supposed to start vancomycin tomorrow. Not sure if I'll be able to tolerate the tetra with vancomycin but I'll probably try it and see what happens (if the vancomycin doesn't knock me down too hard).
