Thinking about trying biaxin for Bart and Lyme. Anyone have a good experience with it? I have a script of it filled already. My only concern really is that it might not get into my brain deep enough to kill the infection there.

Im on Clarithromycin now. Works well, no side effects for me. Ive always been on either Azithromycin (Zithromax) or Biaxin. I always feel worse when I dont have macrolides in my antibiotic regimen. The thing about biaxin is that it has a short half life especially compared to Zith. So you need a lot of it and more frequently. 3 times a day is ideal but 2 a day will work ok

Good to hear, thanks for the input! My doc prescribed the extended release version. Is that what you're taking? He actually said to take two once a day, but it seems line people usually take one twice a day.

I'm on Biaxin right now. I didn't have any major negatives...

The first time I used biaxin and plaq it helped quite a bit -- this was in my first or second year of trx.
But each subsequent time I used it it only made me worse. Biaxin in particular became very bad for my gut (as did all the penicillins).

On Biaxin now and it helps me feel so much better. It's literally the only Abx that helps me feel better and not living in herx city. The only side effect for me is that it can be tough on your stomach but so can a lot of them so i just make sure to take with food.
I also think it's supposed to be a little easier on the tummy than Zith.

Also I'm not familiar with the extended release but with many meds, they stay in your system for X amount of time so if it stays in for let's say 24 hours, then he wants the higher dosage in you for that long. The people that take one twice a day are taking the normal Clarith.

This is all really great to hear, very encouraging. Thanks everyone! I sure hope it works for me.
I have bad problems with both Bart and Lyme, but I have trouble tolerating more than two antibiotics at a time because of yeast, so I'm trying to put together two antibiotics that will be at least somewhat effective against both of them.
I've heard of people using Omnicef for Bart, so I'm thinking maybe Omnicef with biaxin will at least somewhat kill both Bart and Lyme. That's what I'm hoping and praying for anyway!

Sicksam, I have a hard time tolerating the 3rd antibiotic as well. I seem to be o.k. on two, but adding the third always ends in tummy trouble.
