If you have homozygous MTHFR C677T and other gene mutations, can you still get better with Lyme treatment provided that you eat well and do gentle detoxing (like dry skin brushing, drinking water, detox teas

[ps: what would be the best for the gene mutation])? I cannot tolerate any additional supplements, but I do detox with acupuncture.

(breaking up the paragraph for easier reading)

I think we can still work with our body to see what we tolerate. We just don't handle a lot of things and we go slower.

I work with a doctor who understands how to work with the metabolic pathways.

You can google to see a methylation pathways chart - it's like 4 interconnecting circle pathways and needed enzyme genes along the way are depicted in small boxes. A good methylation doctor knows how to try supplements to boost missing chemistries.

Thanks Robin. Went to a few specialists before and they made me sicker [Frown] . Now I have a hard time handling and tolerating anything. I am on a treatment (Chinese herbs) right now. I just hope I can still get well even with just gentle detoxing and acupuncture in addition.

I am well and am homozygous for that gene. I don't tolerate supplements well, so I am sure to eat leafy greens every day. I shoot for 3 cups per day. They're a food source of folate, which is what we need when we have this mutation.

BTW, to me, skin brushing is definitely NOT gentle. Even to this day, years after being well from Lyme, if I skin brush, I release so many toxins that it makes me sick. If it's summertime and I'm in Florida, I can skin brush, walk on the beach, then get in the Gulf and I feel good. I think the combination of grounding and a sal****er bath counteracts the reaction to the brushing.

I get the same response to rebounding. I only rebound in Florida. (I live there about 30% of the year, not just winter, but year around)

In my chart notes, I have a doctor's note by the C677T mutation saying "easier to fix," so to give you some encouragement to go ahead and do what people here are suggesting you do!
