Severe anxiety again today, and I am noticing it coincides with my Bactrim pulse.

Has anyone experienced anxiety with Bactrim, and if so, did you tell your LLMD to find another drug?

I just did a general Google search, and apparently anxiety is a side effect for some people on Bactrim.

Thanks!

Bactrim has a profound effect on blood sugar -- I've noticed it myself. I've had a couple of scary drops since I started it and I've had to titer sugar. That could be what's happening.

So it is making my blood sugar drop? And that causes anxiety?

If you have bartonella, bactrim can actually hit the bartonella and could be causing a neuropsychiatric herx. Or it could be a neuropsychiatric herx from hitting Lyme. Or a side effect. If nothing else has changed ( meds), I recommend you call your LLMD if the anxiety is bad.

I hope things start looking up soon.

Thanks, me. I did suspect it could be a bartonella herx. Does Bactrim target Bart? What about babs? I have all 3, pretty sure.

According to my understanding based on conversations with Dr. J, Bactrim hits Bart a bit. From my own understanding, I don't think bactrim is a hard hitter for Bart like rifampin, so to speak, but supposedly it does have an effect on it. I wish I could be more helpful.

Bactrim treats babesiosis, but it also hits bartonella according to my lyme doc. So, this could be a bart herx.

I would do all the detoxing possible--lemon water all day long, Alka Seltzer Gold with lemon 4 times per day, magnesium, etc.

If it improves, then you know this indicates a need to detoxify. Hope this helps you. Hate that anxiety!

Yes, low blood sugar can cause anxiety, definitely.
