Hi guys!

Just want to ask what kind of water do you drink. I have a good filter at home, but the taste of water is slightly off (no one else notices in the household, so it could be my sense of taste). When I boil the water, though, and drink it when it is warm, the taste is fine.

However, I think I react to it (have mast cell/histamine issues). Now I am thinking of maybe temporarily getting reverse osmosis or distilled water from Wholefoods or spring water (but I don't know which kinds is true spring water and has no BPA). Any recommendations? Thanks!

This is a problem I have yet to solve. Someone on our salicylate group said she researched it .. called lots of companies...and found out that nearly ALL filters are NOT charcoal, but COCONUT.

Coconut is high in sals. (They use the shells for the filters)

So... I've been drinking bottled water from companies that supposedly use charcoal filters. I've forgotten most of them, but I know one is Ozarka and there's also Aquafina.

Recently, I've been buying spring water. Sure wish I could get LOCAL spring water!

Distilled is not good unless you supplement with tons of minerals. I have yet to find a supplement I can tolerate.

Oh dear, that makes sense why I react then and don't even want to drink water anymore! Ugh.

Do you drink Aquafina and Ozarka from bottles? Is there a concern about BPA?

Have yet to solve this too.

Reverse osmosis takes the minerals out so didn't go in that direction.

Haven't liked any of the filters I've tried.... they all leaked stuff from the filter into the water.

Currently buying spring water, BUT it's in plastic which isn't good so I'm not thrilled with this option either.

Currently drinking filtered water from a GE brand fridge unit. It works better than my previous house with on the sink charcoal filters.

I do have severe mast cell disease, live on Gastrocrom, double xyzal, double famotidine, and 6 oral Ketotifen daily.

Is the filter water from a fridge unit? If so the off taste could be from an aging water line. It may also even get musty or moldy tasting if contaminated. I've had friends/ relatives with these problems.

Their water bothered me, I could'nt drink it. Couldn't stand the smell or taste. But most other people did not sense a difference in it!

sammy, our filter isn't in the fridge. it's a big berkey countertop unit. i am so sorry you have the mast cell disease so severe. my prayers to you.

Just wanted to chime in. I've got mast cell issues also and have been buying Glacier water. I have BPA free gallon jugs and take them to my local supermarket and fill my two at the Glacier machine.

I'm paying 30 cent a gallon. It's filtered, reverse osmosis, etc. Tastes much better than our tap water.
