I have Chronic Lyme and Bartonella. I'm almost completely better, but one of the symptoms I still have sometimes is that I feel so tired that I can barely keep my eyes open, but I can't fall asleep. This also always happens during my period. Do you guys recommend anything that would help me fall asleep?

An epsom bath always puts me down.

Stephen Buhner recommends liquid Melatonin-ND. I use Premier Research Labs liquid Melatonin-ND. In his book on Bartonella, he also recommends Aswaganda and Motherwort
but he says on his website that he takes the liquid Melatonin. I find that Valerian helps me too but I can't use any one remedy every night. I have to switch off and use different ones.
I also find that if I increase my herbs for Lyme and Bartonella, I can sleep without using any sleep aid at all. If a disease is causing something, you have to go after the disease.

Another thing that I do if it looks like I'm just not going to be able to sleep at all is catch up on laundry or dishes so that I don't have to do them the next day.
Sometimes, I chop or peel the things that I'll need to cook the next day. You can also reserve that time of night when you can't sleep, for a creative project;
buy a canvas and easel and do a painting. Or you could make Christmas presents for next year. You could always have a project started that you can work on at night.
Read a good book or write one. Write about your Lyme journey.

My insomnia is worst right before my period. I really haven't figured out much. Some antibiotics I'm on makes it worse. Some make it better.
I wish I could say I'm almost completely better!! Good for you!

HW88 says, " My insomnia is worst right before my period."
I pulled up this link on what our hormones are doing throughout a cycle. Looks interesting.
"Another important hormone in your Week 3 is progesterone. All throughout this week, progesterone rises, which can make you sleepy"
Could be some progesterone support might help. (Kokora cream) Just a dab and see if you can sleep.
Binders in great amounts, many times a day were the only thing that calmed me down.
Sometimes it was excess of infections, they made me in fight and flight state.
But most of the times, it was simply excess of die off toxins: they made me crazy, anxiety to the top.
Before you go to bed, if you feel excited, anxious: no good.
Try taking binders, in reasonable amounts, and wait a bit and see.
For me, it took less than 30 minutes after ingestion of different binders to go from strong anxiety to relaxation. Only then, i could fall asleep.
It happened with borrelia, babesia, bartonella and candida for sure (all bugs that cause herxes).
the rest of coinfections, I don't remember (lyme is long gone, my memory starts to fade...).

I forgot. It could be also electrosmog.
I think lyme toxins and candida toxins, and heavy metals, low body weight, make us more prone to react to electrosmog.
In a charged electrosmog bedroom, I have difficulty to fall asleep or keep asleep whole night.
In a clean room, I sleep like a baby, no problem. I don't wake up in the night, rarely have nightmares (which are very frequent in electrosmog environments), and wake up early feeling rested.
My electrosensitivity has been better now, but I have no active infection at the moment.

Lookup, all my hormones were tested about a year ago. My prog. Was low the 2nd half of my period, so I've been on progesterone days 14-28. Doesn't really help the sleep, but oh well.
I'm wondering which infection is causing the sleeproblem issues. I've heard all of them can cause this.

You might check out the Auto Immune Solution (Dr. Amy Myers). She did a free summit on it a while back (really good) but she does what many lyme patients do.
She eliminates toxins in the body and the home, uses black out curtains, changed her diet eliminating things one by one (GF, dairy, etc), is big on the thyroid, and takes supplements like all the rest of us. Black out curtains made a difference for us, also reducing emfs.
