I have talked with several people here who have alpha gal allergy to beef and pork - result of bite of the Lone Star tick.
Their doctors told them that it should clear up in about 5 yrs. No treatment.

This week my LLMD said it is a symptom of Borrelia Myamotoi and they need treatment. I've been looking and haven't found anything that links the two. Has anyone heard of this connection?

If there is a connection, is there a reference that I could have to share a printout with these people?

I'll be manning a Lyme Disease booth at the Palmetto Sportsmen's Classic in March (my 20th year). I want to have important information available, especially if anyone else tells me they have the alpha gal allergy. Something in print may convince doctors to take tick bites seriously around here. Not very likely, but I haven't given up hope yet.

I just did a quick Google search and found many articles linking lyme disease and meat allergy.

The articles say that the allergy can go away after a few years IF the person doesn't get any more tick bites. So, if you want to be able to eat red meat, lamb, etc. again, you have to make sure you don't get bitten again by a bunch of Lone Star ticks.

Thanks for the articles. Obviously my search skills aren't what they need to be.

I didn't use Lyme and meat allergy.
I specified B. Miyamotoi and alpha gal because that was what my LLMD in NY said in my phone consultation.

I really appreciate the help, TF.

Yes, regarding miyamotoi and meat allergy, I found no link.

The link is always a bunch of Lone Star Tick bites (many, many bites) and the meat allergy.

I test positive for borellia miyamotoi and have no problems with meat allergies.

Thanks for the information.
So glad you don't have meat allergies.

Has anyone found a connection between a Borellia species and milk allergies? My wife suddenly cannot tolerate anything with dairy in it.

Dan
