There were reports in several threads in the past of folks who were going to try claritin (Loratadine) to fight B. burgdorferi.
There has also been several inquiries since then about what kind of results or experiences those folks have had (with little or no response that I could find).
The purpose of this thread is to collect and consolidate and experiences with this treatment. Please share and comment! Thanks!

It helps control my MCAS symptoms .. very much related to Lyme disease damage.
I only take as needed. I try to minimize all drugs and supplements.

Funny story about Claritin. . .
I was diagnosed with CVID(immune disfunctional). I needed an immunologist.
So I researched area doctors to see who would be a good fit for me and my medical needs.
One doctor close by, was the original researcher for loratadine. In fact, his research paper was the reason Claritin was approved.
Couldn't believe my good fortune. My Lyme and CVID and a knowledgable doctor with Claritin. Thought I hit pay dirt !

He had never heard of Claritin being able to kill spiroketes. Didn't have a clue about Lyme connection even though he is super intelligent and educated.
Just goes to show how far behind the eight ball mainstream doctors are !
Lyme disease causes immune disfunctions. Immunologists should be on the front line to diagnose and combat all TBI's.
Kick the IDSA to the curb with anything that has to do with TBI's. They are too corrupt.
Start all over, start fresh. Immunology is the new frontier.
Sorry I couldn't help you but I believe Claritin sounds promising.

It made my hair fall out at high doses so I had to stop but man was it working. Major herxes and I took massive amounts.

Took it for a month. It made me even more exhausted & sexual drive plummeted to almost nill. On & off a few times & it was consistent that this was the cause.

I took Claritin in high doses (30-50mg/day) for a few years...didn't help any Lyme stuff but did help allergies until found & cleared mold growing in the kitchen. Cleaned up the mold, and my allergies went down to near-nothing.
Started getting side-effects from Claritin, so weaned off of it. Did not notice any difference other than my stomach being a little more troublesome (nausea), but that was expected given that some antihistamines are used to treat nausea.
My understanding of the Claritin killing Bb is that it works in a test tube but only at doses too high to achieve in a person. I think more research needs to be done around this idea, because if they can figure out why the Claritin kills the Bb in the test tube, there may be a way to achieve the same effect in a person without such high doses of Claritin.
Just my opinion...

Lymedin2010, it is possible you were herxing?
Razzle, any reason to think your "Lyme" issues were not B.b. specific (i.e., co-infections)?

No, I have herxed with other stuff in the past & I know what one is like. After some time with all the abx & herbs, I no longer herx on anything much anymore. I think they have become resistant to most abx & herbs now.
