I have a friend who has a 20? Young son who has started acting strangely and I'm wondering if Lyme could ever be misdiagnosed as bipolar or schizophrenic ?? I hate to look at everything thru Lyme colored glasses, but I'm wondering if I should suggest the Igenex test fr this family?
I remember hearing a vague story of one of our famous LLMD, treating some young boy in a psychiatric hospital and found out he had Lyme instead..does anyone remember that story??

Most people, including doctors, are not going to believe you if you say an infection causes bipolar or schizophrenia. But, they definitely do!

My son with Lyme disease became bipolar overnight after a flu seemed to tip his immune system over the edge. He was diagnosed with PANS. He has an autoimmune reaction in his brain as shown on the Cunningham panel.
He did IVIG and it helped his psych issues.

I remember hearing that story. Was it from Under Our Skin, or Cure Unknown (can't remember)? Lyme changes many things in the body, even nutrient absorption. I agree with Lookup, it could be KPU. So many have it. It could even be bart related.
I remember reading something that said schizophrenia could be caused due to a lack of a B vitamin. I think it was niacin (can't remember). Ah, just googled and found something else on it: http://orthomolecular.org/resources/omns/v10n18.shtml
Deficiencies in vitamins/minerals seem like they might be the reason. Also possible methylation issues (methylated B vitamins necessary, or detox issues).

I was told by a top LLMD that there was a girl in a psych hospital who, it turned out, had Lyme all along. He treated her for Lyme and she improved.
Here is an excellent article by the top LL Psychiatrist about Lyme and the brain:
Now I am sure most of group really had Lyme disease now that I look back. My best friend has every sign of Lyme still insists she just has FM
She is from upstate N.Y. Huge Lyme area. Also really bad knees, unexplained rashes will not clear up, etc. On massive pain med. I have tried to tell her to look into.
Then again I have been sick for 30yrs. Getting worse so go figure. Guess makes no difference.
Hugggsss, to all in need.
