I am a longtime sufferer of lyme disease, but doing better for a long time! I suffered from many neurological symptoms, so I know how scary it can be.
Sadly, I am not up to date on the latest medications. My father found a tick attached, we think it was on him for 3 days. My question is will a doctor prescribe antibiotics from this alone or does he need to wait and have symptoms?
He had a cold before, and is now feeling worse. Thank you for any help!

Hey there to you and your dad. Welcome to LymeNet!
You can print out a one page document with treatment recommendations for a tick bite. One is for adults and one for children.
Please take that with you to your doctors because many do not keep up with the current recommendations.
Hope that helps and you both are doing better soon!

I encourage your father to consider taking adequate prophylactic antibiotics. Many people, including myself, have not gotten symptoms right away. My first symptoms occurred 10 weeks after a known tick bite, with sore neck and shoulder muscles.

Start taking Astragulas Root, 3000mg per day for 30 days. Then continue at 1000 mg thru tick season.
Taking Doxy for 30 days may also help, but most Dr or Urgent care facilities will only rx 200 mg per day which is useless. Should take 400 mg per day to be effective.

Tickbite, do you happen to know if the astragulas root treatment always works as prophylactic and preventive care 100% of the time, or does it vary by person?
