After my clear MRI, I went back to my old LLMD. Bloodwork showed vitamin D deficiency and low iron.

I knew about the low D but hadn't been able to tolerate supplements in the past few months. The anemia was a surprise, but makes sense (heavy periods).

I believe my recent crash was mainly due to the coxsackie/enterovirus my son brought home from preschool. My LLMD confirmed that Hand Foot & Mouth can hit adults very hard. I believe it caused a mono-like syndrome for me that lasted for about 6 weeks. I don't know that it was necessarily a Lyme relapse -- may have just been viral.

My body and joint pain and energy levels have improved tremendously, especially since starting to take an iron supplement. I also am able to take D3 now without a horrible immune response.

So I think, knock on wood, that I am on the road back to some kind of homeostasis.

I'm still having a lot muscle twitches (always twitchy but it's been worse again since the viral infections), and more ocular migraines than usual. But again, seem to be moving in the right direction.

I think viruses can be a really important part of the picture for some of us.

I still have a doxy prescription but I'm going to hold off, just continuing with diet, supplements, and exercise, and I'll see where I get with that stuff.

Anemia is a very common result of BABESIA. Have you been assessed by an ILADS trained LLMD for this? Antibiotics do not work on babesia.

Keep exercise to non-aerobic if you have any kind of infections and fatigue going on.

So nice to hear it! Thanks for sharing. And when you get to go to homeostasis (I've never been there), please send us a picture post card!

Hey Lolippeper, these are great news!

Congrats!

I agree with Keebler!

Look into babesia, I only had those iron deficiencies during active babesiosis.

Thanks very much everyone.

I have been tested for babs in the past and I don't think I have it. I was Igenex positive for Lyme and PCR positive (x2) for anaplasmosis back in 2010.

My energy levels are back to normal, I'm not really having any malaise and my joint and back pain have improved a ton.

I believe the anemia is from my very heavy periods. Plus I was anemic during my pregnancies and I think I may have just never gotten all the way back to normal after my daughter was born 1.5 years ago.

It's a relief to feel that my issue was viral and that my immune system handled it okay. Two months ago I couldn't take vitamin D or garlic without a terrible herx, now I'm able to take both daily in therapeutic quantities with no problems.

I don't know if I will ever be "cured" of Lyme but I'm just glad to not be backsliding the way I thought I was when I caught that coxsackie virus!

Wow! I hope you WILL be cured from lyme!

It's possible to be totally symptomless, not treatment at all. Persist until you have no more symptoms, then you got to change from 'treatment' to support!

Crossing my fingers to you!!
