Nelson County, Virginia- got a report today from one of our members here that another tick in Virginia tested positive for Borrelia miyamotoi- the “other Lyme disease”.

It shows the reports from Shenandoah National Park that were published recently are accurate and this newly discovered Borrelia extends outside the park too.

There are only a handful of doctors who know this information, so it is up to you to educate them.

Unfortunately, people are getting Lyme disease and may never know what it is, and may not get early treatment for it.

Please share this information with people you know throughout Virginia and surrounding states.

IMPORTANT- the regular Lyme tests that already misses 75% of those who are infected will NOT pick up this strain.

Also, this is a relapsing fever that rarely has a rash presentation (less than 9% get a rash)- nasty stuff.

Thanks for getting the word out, Tincup. Yep, nasty stuff. I can attest to that after a night of suffering.
