Wondering if anyone out there has an LBBB and was treated with Azithromycin for babs? The leaflet with the med says that it may be dangerous for long QT wave. I understand LBBB to be long QRS,.
I don't see a LLMD for 4 weeks and I'm not sure if I should continue to take it even though prescribing doctor say it was ok. I didn't react well to the combo of azithro/mepron ( bad thoughts in my head, lots of heart palpitations and skipped beats, flat on my back in bed) and have stopped it for now, but was considering going back in slowly.
Any thoughts?

Been on zithro and its cousin Biaxin (clarithromycin) for most of my treatment. Years between the 2 of them. I personally do not react at all to macrolides. They work and no drama like some other antibiotics. The major difference between Biaxin and Zith is that zith has a long half life so you can do one per day rather than Biaxin at 2-3 times a day. I heard of the QT intervals when I started but once I get in a routine I kinda know which ones will effect me and which wont so I dont worry as much about it. The thing about babs is when youre on Mepron, you need the zith as well. Most all studies on babesia involve the combo therapy. Maybe because of resistance or because they synergistically work together. Never heard of mepron by itself though I have seen some substitute biaxin

I don't do well on most meds and the heart palpitations got pretty bad for a day or two. Not just high heart rate, but skipping beats. I also have a heart murmur which isn't helping matters.

I had a RBBB that has now resolved. Personally, I'd avoid potentially cardiotoxic drugs if possible if I still had a RBBB, especially if they were causing palpitations. Sometimes avoiding them may not be possible though.
Even some of the safest antibiotics have caused palpitations in me, though. Palpitations are a herx symptom for me sometimes.

Good to know that yours resolved. That's great news. I guess I'll wait to see what the LLMD recommends.
Things seem to be spiraling down pretty quickly here for me right now, so I'm feeling impatient. Losing weight very quickly and have no appetite. Cognition is changing rapidly. Terrible tremors since stopping the meds. Trying not to be in my bed, but it's the only place where my worlds not spinning.

I completely understand where you're at. I lost 35-40 lbs the first couple of years, but I've gained 15-20 of that back now. I'm still very sick and in treatment, slowly figuring this disease out. After three years I'm finally learning to be patient. (: Good luck to you!

I RBBB and LBBB - it seems that it alternates! The VA docs just shrug their shoulders . . .
I haven't taken any specific abx for the BBB so I can't weigh in on that aspect, but I have been on abx's for UTI's but haven't noticed any changes.

Azith affect on QT is very small compared to other macrolides.

Thanks for the input. LLMD had a cancellation, so thankfully now have a doc who doesn't look at me like I've grown a second head when I talk about my health! . I'm off the azith right now and starting on minocycline and adding meds slowly. Hoping to tolerate this plan better.
