My doctor wants me to have a complete stool analysis and breath test by Doctor's Data and Genova (?) to test for SIBO.

Has anyone who has had this done been successful in getting Medicaid to cover it? The 2 tests cost $900, which of course I don't have. (Dr. H in his new book recommends these labs as well).

Doubt it - Medicaid doesn't cover much. Just curious as to whether there's any cheaper tests available to you to figure it out.

Too expensive and not worth it if you have to pay for it yourself.

I was given abx for SIBO and it made me worse... no test, no proof I had it.

Wish I had never taken the meds for it.

I had a stool analysis, but it wasn't a SIBO test, it was testing for gut flora and large intestine infections, which I did have.

I never had the SIBO breath test, but was diagnosed and treated based on symptoms and response to a low FODMAP diet. I saw immediate improvement on the low FODMAP diet.

I also was probiotic intolerant, so that was another sign SIBO was an issue.

We treated it as SIBO and I'm better now.

You might call both those labs and see if they work with Medicaid. They have a deal with the doctor I went through and did a deep discount on the test. They might work with you and do it for less than the $900.

I went the natural route. Sorry you had a bad experience with abx.

I used colloidal silver. Then switched to oregano oil, berberine, and neem. I added in a tablespoon of sauerkraut juice daily after the infection seemed to be more under control (I could tell because I was more tolerant of moderate FODMAP foods). I eventually built up to a shot per day. I still have to be careful of probiotics and probiotic foods or I'll get fatigued from it.

The breath tests are not conclusive in any case.

Agree, UK! (from what I've read)
