What have you done to cure your leaky gut?

Not cured yet, but what we have been doing for that (and other gut related problems):
- diet control (gluten free for YEARS, organic mostly, now I'm on casein free, daughter is on cow milk products avoidance).
- probiotics (at first, in pills, energy tested; now we're on kimchi and miso, basically: real food probiotics, daily if possible)
- we started recently on L-glutamine and it does feel good (with licorice and other things inside). I do feel that it changes the way stools are formed, the feeling of food being digested also changes (inside the gut, I mean).
- we use high frequencies on the abdomen sometimes (the violet ray), to keep liquids moving and repairing some of the gut inflammation; either high frequencies or pulsed infrared (PE1) feels quite good on the abdomen
- in the last 12 years, we treat the gut with binders, regularly. Binders are a must for good functioning of the gut. Chlorella is also a PREbiotic, and it does help us.
The gut is one of the main doors to the outside world and so, it gets all toxins from food / water. No intake of regular binders = danger.
My food allergies diminished considerably in the last months, or even last 1-2 years. I can eat all nuts now.
My daughter still fights food allergies though. New allergies do not appear, like it used to be the case. She's able to have oranges again, but her progress is slower than mine.
She has lots of problems of mineral absorption since lyme was gone, so we're still working on that too.

Killing parasites was a big part of it.
No gluten.
I had to be careful with probiotics because I had such a bad SIBO infection. the SIBO also made me histamine intolerant, so I ate a low histamine diet until I fixed that.
I still don't take much in the way of probiotics, but I'll take them for a few days every couple months. I seem to tolerate them more than I used to.
Once I got rid of the bacteria and parasites in my gut, it was able to heal.

My naturopath gave me a product called Restore. It has been quite helpful and I'm not having gut issues now but it's only been a couple of weeks. She also gave me a Restore product for the sinuses and it has been helpful as well. It restores the microbiome.

The GAPS Diet has done it largely for me with good probiotics and no gluten. I turned a major corner a long time ago with the GAPS Diet. You can order the book online. Godspeed!

I also had success with the GAPS diet, and I heard of a diet called the Wahls Paleo diet that sounds good too.
Getting rid of parasites definitely helps.
But for some reason the only thing that helped my really awful stomach pain was antibiotics. After being on antibiotics for Lyme for three months, my stomach seemed to be better.

Bartonella is notorious for causing really awful stomach pain. It did it to me. Your antibiotics may have killed the bart.

It may have killed some of the Bartonella, but it didn't do anything for my Bartonella rash on my back. That's why I decided to stop the antibiotics and try Buhner's herbs instead. I've had the rash for four years and I've been trying and trying to get rid of it. Byron White's A-Bart definitely helped, but I had to stop it because it made me feel so awful. I think it had poke root in it, and it was too strong for me.
Thanks for the reply. I never knew Bartonella could cause stomach pain. I always thought it was just leaky gut.

GAPS diet has butter and milk products.
It does have some good tips though (except for the milk products part...).
What to mix and what not to mix in a meal... bone broths (if you can digest them)... probiotics...
Sanum protocols and dr. R. from Parac. clinic do not recommend milk products.
Dr R. takes off milk products from all lyme patients (if my memory is good...).
He said once that he did not even accept patients if they weren't ready to quite milk and gluten (as they won't easily heal, according to him).
I never wanted to stop cheese and butter, just because I was really addicted to them.
I do think that, in my case, avoiding both starches and milk products is what making the biggest effect (together with lots of raw food and probiotics...).
