We have been treated by 2 different LLMD's over the past 1 1/2 years and presently taking Zithromax & Mepron (for Lyme, not Babesia).

If you are on successful treatment course, is it typical to experience relapse--

a severe setback consisting of fatigue, difficulty getting out of bed, heart racing, shortness of breath (all experienced before treatment)

--even though you have been taking the same course of antibiotics for months?

Just would like to know if this is common, and if others have experienced it.

Yes garnet10

I'm still in bed. Ugh. . .

I relapsed last summer after 2 new tick bites. while on antibiotics.

I ve been on aggressive antibiotic protocol for 16 months.
Felt so good, returned to work part time during month 10. Relapsed soon after.

Relapsed again after I discontinued 2 meds, was placed back on original protocol.

I relapsed this January, which I believe was caused by adding in Low Dose Immunology.

And now I relapsed again with what feels like a severe infection in my spinal cord. Along with cold hands and feet, headaches, exhaustion, pain behind my eyes, depression.

I want to quit the antibiotics and see how I feel on just supplements and detox methods. Maybe for 1 month.

I want to start pulsing as this sounds feasible to why we stay sick. We always chase them. Why can't we get them to come to us ? If we stop the meds, then they would come out of hiding, then we hit them with the big guns, maybe ?

This latest relapse has been the worst, feels like the beginning of treatment, very heartbreaking. Haven't worked or gone to the gym in over 3 months. And each relapse takes more to recover, losing all my strength that took me so long to regain.

I've been told numerous times, by numerous people that this is normal. To stay the coarse and keep treating and keep fighting. So that's what I do.

We have all been good patients for a long time.
We deserve to have our lives back.
Hope you feel better soon.

It could be a herx .. or it could be a reaction to the meds.

Call your doctor to be sure.

This is the problem. This LLMD (who has a stellar reputation and costs hundreds to see)

has not been great about getting back to us in a timely manner.

So discouraging.

I should add that this happened 2 weeks OFF the pulsed antibiotic regimen.

Seems odd to be a herx so far after the pulsed course was completed.

It's hard to say if this is a herx or if this is a relapse...

I particularly do not believe in antibiotics long term - I mean, if after 2 months, the combo did not eliminate most lyme symptoms, I don't really believe it will eliminate chronic lyme...

The 2 drs I follow (Dr K and dr R) don't believe on them either now.

In the past, yes, but not now, for newer tick bites and infections.

I would add, on my own, herbs and other treatments, and certainly not put all my hope on antibiotics ONLY.

They may work short term, I don't doubt it, but I can't believe they work long term after all these years reading and seeing how people treat on and on without consistent results....

The critters are much more intelligent, adapt to single bullet drugs easily, then mutate, hide....

...and our immune systems today are much more weak and messed up with toxins, vaccines, E-smog etc than 20 years ago, when antibiotics were still working.

I also would not spend all my savings on one type of treatment, because chronic lyme treatment can go on for years.

This is just my opinion.

If the LLMD is ONLY on antibiotics long term as main strategy for attacking CHRONIC lyme, I would move to another that is more holistic, ..

... treats detox organs and add herbs or other treatments to modulate the immune system.

I think these type of holistic treatments are more compatible with long term treatment - such as a complete gut building, heavy metal detox etc...

That is just my opinion.

**edited name of LLMD**

If you were off the meds, I'd say it was symptoms getting worse. I'd put another call into your LLMD.

Like Brussels, I did better with natural treatments. I just went up and down like you are talking about with meds.
