multilevel degenerative changes identified in the cervical spine most notable at c5_c6 where there is loss of disc material with broadbased central right paracentral disc osteophyte complex which effaces the thecal sac and causes severe right and moderate neuroforaminal narrowing. this may impinge on the right c6 and possibly left c6 nerve root.
trace grade 1 anterolisthesis of c6 on 7 with a left paracentral disc osteophyre complex without significant canal narrowing. trace left neuroforamina.
huh???

Holy smokes randibear
It would take me a month's worth of good days to decifer that. Time for a consult appointment with your Neurologist.
Your cervical MRI looks eerily similar to my lumbar MRI. Therefore, I can whole-heartedly testify that it will cause unbearable PAIN !!! So sorry.

sister had steroid injections. didn't help. she now takes gabapentin at least three times a day. she's had therapy, special pillows, etc. nothing has worked.
I'm hoping it will get better.

Like you said, "pinched nerve."
At least that's my take on it.

Please promise to see a neurologist.
You need proper follow-up.
OK, so understand that this is a basic explanation of what the MRI says.
You deserve to have this information,.We all believe that knowledge is power. I want this to embolden/empower you as you seek further medical care & interact with physicians.

Here we go:
You have degenerative disk disease in c5 & c6
So picture your disks as beautiful jelly filled donuts that cushion our spine.
They say your disks were squished so bad that the jelly center is bulging out to one side.
If your jelly donut gets squashed, its squashed, your sad that the jelly spilled out. (I would be sad.)
Your disks are so special that once they're so severely squashed, their nice cushion "jelly" pushed out, your spine suffers when this happens.
Most of the time you'll be OK if your disk isn't squished to bad. If you didn't loose too much cushion.
**Your disks also have a role I'n keeping the spine nice & aligned. No good disk means the vertebrae could become unstable. That means nerve damage.
If that was still too much. They said you have bad damage to your disks in your neck c5 & c 6. You need further evaluation by a neurologist or neuro orthopedic surgeon.
I'm sorry

Randi - I just had similar resulting MRI's.
Sammy - I'll post my results - maybe you can decipher for me. I had follow up with ortho this week. I'm clueless. Don't want this.
Can these things be from Lyme?

I swear if another person tells me you're jus getting old or get over it, I am going to commit violence on them....family or not
UPATE...my drs office called. they said because of the severity of my neck issues, two bulging discs, arthritis, nerve compression, etc. they will not touch me but recommend an orthopedic specialist. I have appt tomorrow at 9:40 am and to bring paper copy of mri results and the cd of pictures.
nothing like scaring the crap of you huh?
jus finshed reviewing the dr he's sending me too. he's an orthopedic surgeon. top rated as one of the leading minimally invasive specialists in dfw.
so we'll see how this goes.
I sure wish I had somebody to go with me.
