My LL wants to replace the charcoal I've been taking with either ZeoBind (by biopure) or brown algae.
Zeobind sounds good, but is f*ing expensive. I can't find as much info on brown algae but I did see brown seaweed can help w/detox. Also brown algae can aid in weightloss (which I need).
Anyone have exp with either of these??

Hi, my charcoal was replaced with Zeobind as well. Do you have heavy metals? Its does a good job and mopping up metals. You only have to a small amount...1/8-1/4 tsp so its last quite a while. But ya its expensive!
I haven't tried the brown algae but most algae is also good at soaking up toxins.

Thank you. I'm not sure if I have metals. Is it (zeobind) chealater? As that I think can cause some pretty bad symptoms esp if metals are in your brain. I don't know a lot about getting metals out but that's the little I have heard. So any mention of getting metals out makes me anxious.
And it seems seaweed IS algae. There are not many brown seaweed supps out there but it sounds interesting.
I'm guessing they'd both be taken away from food and other supps?

Zeobind does not chealate, just mops up any loose metals. I'm pretty sensitive and have done fine on it. I hear ya about the metals, makes me anxious too.

I am curious about the difference between binders and chelators as well. I am trying to undo damage caused by toxins caused from mold and lyme with the use of cholestyramine and charcoal.
But I am starting a chelator by Pure Encapsulations called HM Complex.(used to be HM Chelate) Has anyone here tried this?

Materials that attract metals may also have attracted them before you put them into your body, no?
How do you know the "stuff" has not already been filled with the metals it attracts before you eat it and therefor you eat more metals?

Here is a text explaining a bit the complexities of chelating / cleansing of heavy metals.
I think we use 'chelation' as a synonym to 'mobilizer': anything that moves metals, dislodge them from some place to another.
And 'binder' is more like a substance that does not mainly mobilize, but simply acts as a transporter: we use the terms intestinal binders, for example, as it will mop up already loosened heavy metals in the gut in the stools out of the body.
Minerals (such as zink, molybdnenum, selenium etc) are not seen as mobilizers, even if they do mobilize heavy metals by substitution: they charge the cells and then push out heavy metals from them.
But then many will re-circulate back through the gut, that may reabsorb them, unless there are loads of binders there to lead the heavy metals through stools out.
I think that a mix of chelators and binders are useful. Better than using just the same type of chlelator, same type of binder.
First load yourself with binders then start on chelators (doing the opposite is counterproductive)...
I like rotating substances. I think rotation always works better.
But binders ALSO bind other neurotoxins, not only heavy metals. Die off from lyme and candida puts off a lot of metabolic waste that are toxic. We also need binders for these toxins.

I just started on Cholestyramine - one scoop this morning and following with a lunch of veg soup with lots of fiber
not sure if I should do a scoop tonight or wait until morning to see if I can eliminate that ok
was hoping to start with 2 doses a day and do that for 3 days and then go to 4 doses a day for 4 days and then stop
don't want to lose minerals, etc. but want to get neurotoxins out
do you have a herx-type reaction from Cholestyramine?
any opinions much appreciated

Go slow with Cholestyramine. I was told to start out at three- four doses per day (but only a quarter of a dose) and gradually work up to a full dose over several days/weeks. Everyone is different and for some, it is no real change, but for others, it may cause a herx like reaction.
It is challenging to follow all the rules about having your other meds apart from the CSM. I take most of my meds at least an hour before or 2 hours after CSM and I try to the eat something with a bit of fat in it about 20-30 minutes following the CSM, which will help to bind toxins better.

Harmony, I take a tsp. of psyllium husk with the CSM in a glass of water in the morning to combat constipation. Some have better luck taking this at night. Drink plenty of water too!
