Surpringly, as in BAFFLING, the place I live won't allow me to test their house for mold. Something about reporting it on homeowners insurance and one of them having been cleared of mold via a pulmonary test, so therefore tells me no need to do it.
The place could be perfectly fine but if I can't know for certain, I can't stay. I'm absolutely livid. My previous residence had water damage.
I live sw suburbs of Chicago, Illinois. I earned 1300 last year (yes less than 2000 for the whole year) and can barely work so I cannot afford rent. The place has to have had mold testing and passed and I'll need to see the results. If I cannot get out of mold, I can't get better with lyme, period. So this is urgent.
Any resources or anyone have a vacancy?

So first, they probably have not had mold testing in the past-- its not a typical thing and second you dont need their premission to test, just do it on your own.

Order an ERMI test and see the results, costs about $200 and is what a Dr that would treat mold illness would have you do.

That's true. I'm Just afraid I'll do it wrong and thus get unreliable results. I've read about this happening to several people. A friend of mine who went through the process advised I just get a reliable inspector. I wish someone could be there and guide me exactly how to do it.

Does a residence get in trouble insurance wise if it's known they had a mold inspection?

its a very simple test, i cant imagine doing to wrong. You literally just click something onto your vacum and use it for 10 seconds in a few different spots in your home.

Insurance companies aren't big brother...they would have no way whatsoever of knowing if youve had your home tested..so i see that as a non issuel.

Well ppl Have said they got neg results doing a self ermi but know for sure they're ill from mold. Plus it's a 240 waste if so.
We don't have much dust here to speak of bc of cleaning. Is that an issue?

And yes perhaps maybe not a self test but wouid they know of an inspectiin? That and pigheadness are his issue w inspectors.

Home Depot has mold tests .. They are less than $20 .. so I'm not sure how valid.

Is that the test you did? Yah it's not reliable at all. The standard is ermi. My doc says mold may be the reason I haven't improved in 3 yrs. I'm pretty sick of being sick. Mold is super important to address.
