serology testing for viruses that 90% of the population have had at some point in their life (usually as children with EBV) presents difficulties as we pretty much all have antibodies to these viruses.
Current medical wisdom seems to be that if you present with an unusually high titer of either IgG or IgM antibodies that signifies a current or recent infection or reactivation of a previous infection.
However exactly where they pin the positive vs negative breakpoint seems to vary from area to area/lab to lab.
the lab report should define what limits they use though so you can start there.
