Here is a GREAT Twitter long-thread on Covid and how it affects the Brain, by Dr Andrew Ewing !
(copy and paste for future references)

Covid is one SCARY virus!

New word for long-haul sufferers of COVID-19 and the immune system.
POST COVID IMMUNE DEFICIENCY (PCIM)

Studies show a reduction in B-cells and severe reduction in the total amount of T-cells in COVID-19. The only other infection known to do this is HIV!
(I might disagree with this, what about Lyme disease?)

Yikes. . . .

Here’s the study on CD4, CD8 and T-cell function in healthy post-covid subjects and Neuro long-haul covid subjects.
https://www.medrxiv.org/content/10.1101/2021.08.08.21261763v3.full-text

It is a hard to decipher study to us layman.

“Numerous studies suggest that T cells are necessary for the clearance of SARS-CoV-2. In particular, CD4+ T cell responses directed against the Spike protein were found in 100% of healthy COVID convalescents (13), and virus-specific T cell responses were sub-optimal or impaired in severely ill COVID patients “

“As it is possible that neuro-PASC could be the result of a persistent infection, further investigations would require testing of potential cryptic reservoirs, including stool samples from Neuro-PASC patients.”
