My Rheumatologist is recommending Plaquenil for a high ANA and believes its Lupus. I saw a eye Dr due to it can cause problems with peripheral vision. Should I be worried about Plaquenil and Lupus?
-kidney function is fine. I know Lupus can be a side effect of Lyme

The above website talks about the criteria for lupus.

Plaquenil is a drug that can help lupus so maybe give it a try and see what happens. It has fewer side effects than some other drugs that are used.

Plaquenil also treats babesia.

The above website lists the side effects. Some may tolerate it and some may not.

I guess you need to see how it interacts with whatever else you are taking.

Best wishes. Let us know how this all turns out.

I take Plaquenil for Sjogren's symptoms. It started with burning mouth syndrome. Be in contact with your eye doc and let them know you are starting the med. My doc did not want to see me until I was on it for 6 months. Others suggest an appointment prior to starting the med.

It has been about a month since you posted. Did you start Plaquenil?
