I found an imbedded tick underneath the upper part of my left arm last week. I removed it the best I could but it did not appear to be moving at all so not sure if I did not get it all. I went to urgent care and was given 14 days of doxy. I was not bothered by it till about 3 days later when intense itching began. The area became hard and swollen and probably due to the itching ended up infected. The redness ended up traveling down past my elbow with intense itching throughout. I got a pinger course of doxy for 6 weeks and have been placed on Bactrim as well. I have been given various creams and oral antihistamines for the itching. The area now looks 100 times better but the itch is still there. I’m a little confused as to why I am so itchy not only in the actual bite site but much further down the arm and can’t find anything to relieve it.

I am probably not much help, but have you tried calamine lotion?

Did they say you had a cellulitis? That is an infection of the skin. Typically, it does not cause itching. But you can experience itching at the end of the process when it is healing.
Sometimes just putting pressure on an area can relieve itching. Not rubbing, just pressure.
I think if this was me, I would be back in touch with your physician and see what they think and if they have any suggestions.
