Hi everyone,

I am trying to figure out how exactly I can get IgeneX covered by my insurance or if anyone has any prior experience getting it covered.

I have Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey, PPO Plan. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, especially if someone has been able to get theirs successfully covered / reimbursed themselves. Thank you very much

Patrick

I had no luck in getting Igenex covered by BCBS of IL with my PPO plan.

Good luck!

Welcome to LymeNet pjlambe78

IGeneX, Inc. does not bill Health Insurance Providers, Medi-Cal or Medicaid. You are responsible for submitting your own insurance claim. You must first contact your insurance carrier to inquire about out-of-network providers and the reimbursement clause.

IGeneX does accept straight Medicare or Medicare through disability. Only tests that are medically reasonable and necessary for the diagnosis or treatment of a Medicare patient will be reimbursed. The Office of Inspector General takes the position
that a physician who orders medically unnecessary tests for which Medicare reimbursement is claimed may be subject to civil penalties under the False Claims Ac.

You will need a provider to order a test.

As a Medicare patient, you are responsible for payment to IGeneX, Inc. if Medicare denies payment.

I would call IGeneX directly, they are great to work with.

IGeneX just released their new AT HOME Lyme test (only Lyme, NO co-infections). A kit is set to you. You prick your finger for a blood sample and nail it out.

Great info BB! I was fortunate that back in 2004 my insurance BCBS Federal paid for everything, tests, doc appointments, IV, Picc line, home health etc.

If you have an online account with your health insurance they might have a way you can check and if not I'd call them and ask. And depending on your state laws, I would record the conversation.

Best of luck to you!
