Hi! I am so glad to find this BB. My 7 year old son was diagnosed with Lyme based on symptoms a few weeks
ago. Stiff neck, tired head, tired/heavy knees, icky stomach and fatigue. He has a history of 6 tick bites over the past couple of months. We live on a farm in Dutchess County, New York. He was treated for 3 weeks with amoxi (250 mg ,Amoxi Suspension, 3 times a day)and had an increase in symptoms for the first 10 days or so. I had a Herx reaction the 2 times I was treated so am familiar with those symptoms. He has finished his 3 weeks of antibiotics but says he still thinks he may have Lyme a tiny bit. He still has, in his words- a little bit of the tired head, tired knees and feels fatigued but not enough to go to bed.... It IS a LOT better after the amoxi but he is not 100%.

I am concerned about him having a co-infection (erlichiosis) or maybe, not be treated long enough. My Border Collie (dog) is currently being treated for Lyme and Erlichiosis. Vet has her on doxy for 3 months. My vet is much more literate in tick illness than pediatrician. His pediatrician wouldn't treat based on symptoms and said he didn't have Lyme because he didn't have a bulls eye rash. [shake] Ended up taking him to Medicus , Dr there said he has the history and symptoms and said disease HAS to be diagnosed symptomatically. Recommended regular Dr run Tick panel after he was finished with amoxi. Don't have any faith in regular dr.... [shake] I am looking fo a dr who knows children and tick borne illness in Putnam or Dutchess County. Also, I do not have health insurance and am looking into getting the NY health plan for children.
Thanks for your time. [Smile]
