Hi there,

I found out I had Lyme disease 10 days ago, and have been put on Doxycyclene for 3 weeks. I was sick with weird flu like symptoms for 5 or 6 days before I went to a doctor. I saw the bullseye rash the day before I went to the doctor. No recollection of being bit by a tick.

Since then I have been reading a lot, (highly recommend Top 10 treatments for Lyme disease), and I want to avoid the possibility of a recurrence of the disease when I end the antibiotics. The doctor told me this treatment is "curative" for treating early stage Lyme disease, but I am not so sure.

The other concern I have is that I was put on Keflex initially, because the doctor wasn't sure at first if it was Lyme or a spider bite. I had a bad reaction to the Keflex, and more rashes appeared on my skin and they switched me to Doxycyclene after 24 hours of Keflex. My concern is that Keflex is a cell wall inhibitor, known to send the spirochetes into survival mode and hiding, and could present a bigger problem later, after the antibiotics go away.

Two questions:

-Will the Keflex create any negative complications?
-What can I do to ensure a symptom free life after the antibiotics are done?

I am currently symptom free, and feeling stronger daily, but still tire easily, and don't feel quite right at all. If there are any Lyme enlightened doctors in the Sprigfield, MA area, please let me know.

Thanks for your help, and for being out there.

Hi Scott, I would post this in the Medical Forum here on LN. There are just a handful of posters who frequent this board.

When you post or reply, please break up your solid, continuous block text [Smile]

welcome to the board! many of us have neuro lyme where we can NOT read long solid block text and be able to comprehend and read it as is.

please edit your post by CLICKING PAPER/PENCIL ICON to right of your name. that opens up BOTH subject line and body text.

now please break up your WORDY SENTENCES into one sentence paragraphs. Then hit ENTER KEY ``THREE`` after each paragraph; we need that space for comprehension.

if you are NOT a wordy person, you can do 2 or 3 total ok. do this for your entire post.

then go to left hand corner and mark box to receive ALL REPLIES, and click EDIT SEND

we thank you for helping us; [Wink] otherwise, we will SOB, SCROLL ON BY, since we can't read to help you. If I see posts like this, I SOB them; to hard on me. I'm also in the early stages of losing my eyesight from diabetes retinopathy. [Frown]
