My daughter, Adrian, was recently re-infected with Lyme and is a student at Duke. I'm really having difficulty locating anyone within a reasonable distance for her.
Dr. P. seems like the only one in NC listing Lyme as a condition that they treat. He's not, however, on the Lyme Disease Assoc. list. To be honest, I can't recall where his name came from in the first place.
Adrian is currently being treated via phone by her LLMD in Pennsylvania but really needs someone who can stay on top of her condition better than a long-distance phone call.
She's had a stiff neck for 5 days now, despite 400 mg. daily of doxycyline (muscle relaxers and ibuprofen don't do anything to help it).
I have emailed everyone listed in the 2 NC support groups but haven't gotten a response from anyone.
Thanks in advance! Marian

SEARCHING IN NC
Hope your daughter at Duke is finding improvement.
I am also in NC and looking for a LLMD. Do you or your daughter have any leads to share?
I've been on disability since 2/06, and I've been shifted from md to md so frequently, I'm dizzy and nauseous at the thought.
Thank you to anyone with any help.

hi, I'm in NC too -- it's impossible to find a LLMD in this state.
You may have better luck if you search on Maryland or Washington, D.C.
There is a LLMD in SC but you may have insurance problems there, due to new state law that grants insurance companies the right to determine medical necessity.
