I need some reassurance here because while I received a PM about him being one of the better lyme docs, etc. He has not addressed my co-infections and only has me on one antibiotic, still.

Should I find someone else that treats a litte more aggressively?

Did you get recommendations on this doc from several people? One person's experience is not enough. I usually suggest contacting local support groups for some feedback.

Did you ask if he treats following ILADS guidelines / Dr. Burrascano's Treatment Guidelines?

Dr. Burrascano's 2008 "Treatment Guidelines for Lyme and Other Tick Borne Illnesses": http://www.ilads.org/lyme_disease/B_guidelines_12_17_08.pdf

Good source of information: ILADS - http://www.ilads.org

This list of things to ask a LLMD is posted at the top of 'Seeking a Doctor':

I got good info from a PM from bettyG about him but he's just not addressing anything and I'm not sitting on Biaxin for 3 months while all this other stuff runs rampant....blah.

I agree with you. Biaxin only just doesn't sound like a good treatment option!

Try to get some feedback on other docs in your area. Unfortunately, I'm in PA - not familiar with them.

I just saw Dr H yesterday. It sounds as though he is very open to receiving phone calls and making adjustments to medication as needed.

He started me on a low dose antibiotic and will increase based on my feedback/reaction.

Try giving him a call today. Good luck!

Hey Toppers,

I asked him about co-infection treatment. He treats the Lyme first, and then looks to see what symptoms are left and he then treats based on symptoms or tests.

I went to a famous (expensive, but very good) LLMD in CA and he also treats Lyme first. He said that while my co tests were negative, said I probably had co's. He said to bring the Lyme load down and then the co-infections are more apt to come out.

I don't think it's good to bombard the body with everything at once, too much trouble trying to detox all the dead stuff.

Treatment takes awhile. My brother will be seeing Dr. H again at the beginning of August again (saw him end of April). He's been on Biaxin and has noticed some improvement. I am very interested to see what he puts him on next.

How long have you been on the Biaxin so far?

Take care,
Ocean

I was also prescribed Biaxin - started the med last night and am starting to herx already this morning. I was hoping it wouldn't be too bad as it is a low dose. I feel like a wimp!

Good luck to all!
