I could almost write a book about my misdiagnosis. Briefly however, three years ago the doctor said the rash was a spider bite. All was well and it eventually the rash resolved. Some months later, I started to get unexplained symptoms. It wasn't until after ``tennis elbow'' and other misdiagnosis, including a hospital stay for unrecognized Lyme Carditis, that I was finally diagnosed with Lyme Disease after the MRI of my knees showed nothing wrong but the Western Blot from the wise orthopedic surgeon glowed positive for Lyme. Yes, mine is a typical story and since that time, I have educated myself on Lyme Disease. I am blown away at the number of people who have strikingly similar stories to tell. I blame my own complete lack of knowledge about this disease as much as the general doctors, heart specialists and sports medicine doctors. The only difference is that I had some expectations that the many doctors that I saw would be able to help since they are getting paid to be aware of these things. After all, it's their job and Lyme Disease is everywhere these days. It amazes me that people are frantic about H1N1 and nobody is concerned about the plague of Lyme Disease that is now --- and will be in the future --- much worse (in my opinion). However, this experience has reinforced within me that you have to be in charge of your own health. You can't pay someone (doctor) to do that for you.

That's in the past --- and doxycycline has given me a reprieve for almost one year. However, the Lyme Disease is back. This time, it is causing a problem in my foot and the same Orthopedic surgeon suspects Lyme Disease since the MRI of my foot shows absolutely positively nothing wrong. Rather than go back to the Infectious Disease Specialist who follows the ill-advised IDSA guidelines to the letter, I would like to find a LLMD in my area. Can you help me find a good LLMD in the Rockville, Maryland vicinity?

Many thanks for your help.

Jim
