I am a 51-yr. old homemaker, bitten on 10/20/09, and experiencing symptoms. Test done last week inconclusive but Doxycycline treatment initiated for 30-day period. Had no knowledge of Jarisch-Herxheimer reaction until I experienced it and it was identified to me by GP. Doesn't this confirm Lyme diagnosis (he would not or could not say)? Is 30-day treatment sufficient? Also, how do you convince a husband that you are sick?

A true Herx does confirm the presence of a stealth infection, most likely Lyme Disease.

Treatment should be much longer.

Unfortunately, Lyme is mostly an invisible illness and one of the most difficult aspects of coping with this illness. I still cannot truly convince my wife or anyone else how bad I really feel.

This is the place to be for people who truly understand how you feel.

Thank you so much, Carl - I really appreciate the information and the empathy (not having gotten much of either so far). How long have you had LD? In my case, my husband doesn't get it because I I can still basically function, but I feel like I have aged ten or more years overnight. The inconclusive diagnosis doesn't help.

My sister has been suffering from neurological symptoms for over a year, that have recently been discovered to be from chronic Lyme Disease, which she did not know she had. The doctor who discovered her low CD 57 score was at a neurofeedback clinic in Virginia, but she is supposed to go back to school in the Spring. She is a student at Princeton University, in NJ. Does anyone know of a doctor near there who would be able to help her?

Brittani and welcome to our lyme site. We're so glad you found us and hope we can help you with whatever you need.

You need to go to "Seeking a Dr." and post from there because by tagging onto someone as you did you become "buried" under someone elses post and we do not usually come back to check after we have sent the first person the info they needed.

Brittani, would you please post it that way because others will not see you under "Mocha's" posting? I will send you information but others will not see it this way and they can't send you any information okay?

We totally understand how it is to be new and not know the procedures, believe me, I attempted to join another site and I could NOT understand it! Please know this is very common. It takes a while to figure things out.
