I'm seeing an LLMD and I'm on antibiotics. Has anyone had success going a non-pharmaceutical route? Or has anyone coupled the advice of an LLMD with any more naturopathic type practioner?
Looking for recommendations for naturopaths etc specializing in lyme or infectious diseases in broad NYC metro area.

Hi sickpuppy-

My doc is a naturopath, not an MD, and does incorporate non-abx methods into her treatment protocols.

When I started treatment she gave the option of going strictly non-abx (supplements, immune support, etc.) I'm not sure what you mean by "non-pharmaceutical" or if these would apply.

BUT... I'm still under the impression that treatment is a lot more effective with abx, at least at the beginning.

I'm on the wrong coast for you, but I thought I would reply to let you know that they are out there. Good luck!

Hi, sickpuppy, just go to google and type in "Naturopathic doctors in New York" and you will have a very large selection and it also has the New York Association for Naturopathic doctors.

You can just about google any word or words and you will find information!

It's a very good idea to have both a lyme practitioner AND a ND--this is a great marriage when it comes to lyme disease. Both doctors recommend the other!

It's best to find a ND who is LL as most NDs know very little about lyme and can be a total waste if they don't. Some LL NDs are also members of ILADS so they are really up on the spirochete and how that affects everything. They would also know about about coinfections.

The learning curve is very steep so it's best not to try to train any kind of doctor but fine one who is very LL from the get-go.

Many LLMDs know of LL NDs and can refer you.

Depending upon the state licensing laws, in some states NDs can also prescribe antibiotics and many other pharmaceuticals, too.
