Recently diagnosed with acute LD. Started Doxycycline yesterday. My doc says either I got this very recently or have had it for who knows how long. I have had many of the symptoms off & on in varying severity for over 30 years. Is it possible to have had this for that long?

Yes, one can have lyme for many, many years before ever having a symptom!
