Does anyone know what protocol Dr. H uses? Also, is there a certain list of questions I should ask at a visit? Thanks!

Hi & welcome,

Sorry to bombard you with "don'ts" but...

Please delete the dr's name. We don't post names, just initials. Many doctors get persecuted for treating lyme.

Also, many docs do not like their names & info discuss on the world wide web.

We also Do Not post protocals.

Each patient is different requiring different meds.

People will send you PMs (private messages)with that info.

For general info if you go above to Anna Lee's post "Quick Links to Popular Topics"
you may find helpful info too.

Also there is a "search" mechanism above so you can search a topic & see the past discussions.

The "search" is above under the "post a poll".

Click on the paper and pencil icon across from the date at the top of your post.

THen, you can delete the doctor's name and city and just call him Dr. H. in WI.

People will answer your question privately.

Thanks!

To find out if this is the right doctor for you/your son:

* You should also ask at your local lyme support group

You are looking for an ILADS-educated LLMD (Lyme Literate MD). ILADS details below. Some doctors will say they treat lyme but are not as educated as needed. Treatment paths vary but it's vital they've read ILADS' research, etc. for the science of lyme.

* You can call that doctor's office and ASK the office manager a few questions.

I see you are looking for a child. I don't know if this is a new, recent case or a chronic one. But, many regular doctors don't believe in chronic lyme. Many treat only if they see a rash and then for a short time only. But not every one gets the rash.

Testing is not great either and many labs don't do the right test or even use proper procedures for the tests they do perform.

You may know that already but, if not, it's important to know that going in, even if this is a brand new case.

Questions for the doctor's office mgr.

1) Do they evaluate for lyme disease? If your son does not have a rash, ask them if that's necessary? Ask what kind of test would be done. If treatment is needed, Ask what that would be.

Would the tests need to be CDC positive?

Ask if they follow the IDSA Guidelines? Pause, let them answer.

2) Then ask if they are familiar with ILADS ( eye- lads).

3) if they ASSESS and treat chronic lyme. Wait for answer.

3) Then ask if the ASSESS for other tick-borne infections.

4) Ask how long your child might be on treatment, if he has lyme.

5) Ask if they treat the "cyst" form of lyme, too?

I see that you have posted in "Seeking a Doctor" forum.
