I am 26 and have had Lyme symptoms for 9 months now. It started with a fever and chills. Then my knees started hurting.

The doctor thought I had Parvovirus and prescribed Prednisone. This did not help at all. Everyone kept telling me it would get better with time and to get lots of rest.

My condition has only gotten worse. Now my knees, ankles, toes, elbows, wrists and fingers all hurt and they crack and pop a lot.

I have been tested for Lyme disease twice and it came back negative both times. I finally convinced my doctor to prescribe an antibiotic for Lyme just incase. It seems to have helped a little, but I still have a lot of pain.

I have also seen a rheumatologist who can only tell me that I do not have arthritis yet, but that something is wrong with me.

I would really like to find a Lyme specialist in the Lancaster, PA area that can tell me if I actually have Lyme and can also help me treat it effectively. Thank you for your help!

Blownek,

Prednisone usually makes lyme (or other chronic stealth infections) MUCH worse. Sorry.

Most labs don't do the right tests and also don't even do what tests they do perform correctly.

Glad your rheumatologist knows something is wrong. Most just say "fibromyalgia" when they don't know.

I don't usually work with lists here but see that there has been an explosion of requests and the person(s) doing this are probably very overwhelmed.

Until someone sends you a PM with a list, you might find your area lyme support group and start there. Good luck.

In addition to the usual coinfections from ticks (such as babesia, bartonella, ehrlichia, RMSF, etc.), there are some other chronic stealth infections that an excellent LLMD should know about:
