I am located in upstate NY, an hour and a half north of Albany - 5 minutes from the Vermont border. I am willing to drive, stay overnight, or do whatever it takes to see a specialist in Lyme disease, preferably pediatric.
My 11 year old son has been diagnosed with Lyme.
Yesterday, we saw an infectious disease specialist who wants him to get counseling for his pain because she thinks it is all in his head - she wants him to stop all antibiotics because she thinks his throwing up and stomach problems are caused by the Doxycillan and that he has been on antibiotics long enough (amoxycillan - 21 days / Doxycillan 7 days - prescribed for 28 days but stopped yesterday)
I am unsure how to proceed. He is in a considerable amount of pain. Nothing seems to help.
