My son is 23 and suffered for over a year with severe head and neck pain, vertigo, and had heart rhythm abnormalities that sent him from the doctors office to the ER.

He saw several doctors in 2 states, even had a spinal tap but no one could tell him what was wrong.

I made him come home from college and took him to a neurologist in Annapolis, MD last fall. The confirmed that my son had Lyme.

He had a MRI to make sure there was no brain swelling. Then doctor put him on two weeks of doxycycline and gave him Ibrupofin for pain.

After about 2 months my sons head pain did subside, but he was not himself. Not active. Sleeping alot. I was not satisfied that he was cured but the doctor refused to give more antibiotics and I could not find any doctor that specialized in Lyme. So I let it go.

A couple of months ago he started having elbow and wrist pain. Then it moved to his one knee. Just last week, after several days in severe pain with his knee he went to ER and they said he pulled a ligament. (Could this be from Lyme?)

Now yesterday, he has this odd looking red, oval shaped mark on his neck just below/behind his ear. And today, it has changed, sort of looks like bumps or tiny blisters on the red spot. ??

I've been searching the web for info. I read somewhere that a new type of rash is with lesions that ooze. I have an appointment for him tomorrow with the family doctor, but they always think "the mother is over-reacting".

I would love to find a knowledgable person on the Eastern or Western Shore of Maryland. He is too young to be in pain all the time. If there is medicine to help I want him on it.

Thank you all for any help you can give.

I live in Centreville and am seeing a Lyme Literate Doctor who has an office in Stevensville and Denton. The Lyme literate doctor in Easton that I know of is unfortunately not taking any new patients. [Frown]

But there is a great Support Group for Lyme that meets every 1st Monday of the month at the Methodist Church down the street from the YMCA at 6pm. They have guest speakers that come and teach about lyme and answer questions. They have literature that is very helpful too. And yes, I checked and they are still meeting this next Monday even though it's a holiday! Hope you can come!

My daughter and I are both having joint pain, fatigue, photophobia and vision problems, and other issues that have me worried about Lyme (especially as we've both had tick bites and our dog has had Lyme disease). Could you please send me the name of the doctor in Denton? We will also check out the next meeting of the Easton support group. Thanks!
