Here is a bit of advice for you based on my years of experience helping people find lyme doctors (over 6 years of experience) and my own lyme experience:

You always have to wait to see the good doctors.

Also, you have to be willing to travel, even out of state, to see a good doctor.

So, when you are suffering, of course you want to see someone quickly and nearby. But, don't consider that doc your permanent doctor. Consider that doc your first doctor while you are waiting for a better doctor.

Get on the waiting list for a good lyme doctor, however far away he may be. It takes time to work your way up the "food chain" of lyme doctors until you get to a really good one.

I had a total of 3 lyme doctors. The third doc is the one who got me well. It has now been over 5 1/2 years since I completed my lyme treatment and I am still symptom-free, enjoying my life.

But, the doc is the key to getting rid of this disease. That is the message. The doc is the key.

Lyme is an extremely complex disease and until you get in with a lyme doc who has had years and years of experience treating it FULL TIME (and thousands of patients), you probably will only experience partial improvement in your health.

To get to the point where you are rid of this disease, you have to go to someone really good.

Lots of docs treat lyme disease, but not many know how to get rid of it for a person.

So, do something for the present and do something for down the road. Get a doc for now and get in line to see the ultimate doc who will get you well also.

Hi TF,

I wanted to thank you for this reply. It is probably the most hopeful thing I've read in months regarding being ill. The fact that you have been well for 5 1/2 years is HUGE to me. Thank you for giving me back some hope.
