Driving home from visiting relatives all day on September 25, 2010 I was experiencing a lot of aches in my neck and shoulder area. I attributed it to being behind the wheel for so long.

The next day, Sunday Sept 26th, I noticed a solid red, very hot, painful rash on my upper left breast. My head hurt and felt like it was on fire. I thought it might be the flu.

The rash started to spread and looked like a bulls eye on Monday Sept 27th and I developed another bulls eye rash on my upper right arm. On Wed Sept 29th, I went to the Dr. at the clinic at work and told her I thought it was Lyme Disease as the last couple years I noticed an influx of ticks in my area and have been concerned about getting Lyme disease. I have four cats.

Since I didn't see a tick, she said no and prescribed ceflexin for 7 days. Both rashes started to go away, but as soon as I stopped the antibiotic both rashes came back. In addition, I developed painful bulls eye rashes all over my body. Calfs, thights, back, sides, and stomach.

On Oct 22nd, I went to my PCP telling him I thought I had Lyme Disease. He thought it was erythema nodosum and another dr he brought in thougt it was Lupus.

Tests were done (NOT for lyme disease) and the only thing that came back positive was a blood test for inflammation. He prescribed Predniose, which helped the pain a lot. I stopped the Prednisone on Nov 11 and the pain started to come back Nov 12 and kept getting worse by Monday Nov 15.

When I got to work on Nov 15th I noticed the right side of my lip did not go up when I smiled and immediately thought I had Bells Palsy.

I went back to the PCP on Nov 16th and he agreed it was Bells Palsy. He took blood to test for Lyme Disease and prescribed Prednisone, Valtrex and Doxcycl. I just found out today that the test came back positive for Lyme and would like to go to a Lyme specialist.

Thanks for you time.

These Doctors crack me up. They are so afraid to prescibe antibiotics for obvious Lyme disease but don't have any problems prescribing steroids without indication. Steroids destroy the immune system and make the Lyme take a more severe hold one you. This is what happened to my daughter in 2004. We are still battling her Lylme now since they missed it....even after I told them I thought she had Lyme. We need to start letting these doctors know that they have misdiagnosed us and the damage they have done. Maybe then, they will start to educate themselves and try to learn how to take care of there patients!

Ok. I'm going to send you a PM. But ANY steriod is BAD for Lyme patients, use the search function and you will see. SO please take a look at that.

Let me get this straight. You had bullseye rashes with inflammation so the docs elected not to test for Lyme and gave you steroids? It sounds like we have the same PCP.

There are a couple very good LLMD's in the area.

Good luck.

I was suprised he didn't order a simple blood test when he was already taking blood for other tests. But, I should have spoken up and insisted he order the test and prescribe the doxcycl. Lesson learned.

As if treating the symptoms will get rid of the disease. These doctors don't crack me up - they make me want to crack them up. They should be jailed for prescribing steroids to people with infections!

They did this to my son and when I found an LLMD she said this set him back... who knows how many months. He has been sick since June. 10 days of prednisone at the end of August. Could barely walk by September 1, facial ticks, shoulder shrugs, pain... unbearable pain.

Our ID duck said "lyme doesn't cause pain." I'd like one of these multi-infected ticks to bite her and have her tell me that again in a month or two.
