I live in a woody area in TN so get ticks every year.

In 2003, I had a period of a couple of months of feeling like I had the flu - achy, extreme fatigue. ThenI broke out in a strange rash on my face, it started with one dime size spot, then about 7 more appreared. It lasted 3 months, terrible itching and burning.

The next year, I got two rashes on my leg which looked the same. A couple of weeks later, I had the headache from hell for 5 hours, and the next morning I woke up with double vision and droopy eyelid. The ophthalmologist immediately thought the rash was erythema migrans and ran the Western blot. It was negative.

I was referred to a neurologist who repeated the Western blot and elisa - both negative. Also ran many other tests for various things - all neg.

The double vision went away but returned 2 weeks later - this time affecting a different optical nerve (First time it was the 3rd nerve, second time it was the 6th nerve.)

Multitude of tests repeated, all negative. Neurologist decided I must have MS even though there were no lesions. (Obviously, that was wrong, since at my age, MS progresses quickly and I have had no other neurological symptoms.)

I kept asking my regular doctor for the antibiotic, but since tests were negative for lymes, he would not prescribe.

Then I ended up in the hospital for 10 days with severe pan- ulcerative colitis. After that I changed doctors, but the new doctor is adamant that there is no lymes disease in TN.

For the most part now I feel fine. But I have numerous "hot flashes" every day and night. (I am well past menopause and these are more numerous and hotter than those few I had back then.) My body temperature fluctuates - more than the regular fluctuations we all have every day. My normal temp is around 97.6. These days I will feel hot, take my temp and it will be say 98.4 or higher. Then 10 minutes later it will be back in the 97's. When I cook, I feel like I am out in 90 degree weather.

So what am I wondering is does this sound like residual lymes.
