WOW! Its been so long since Ive posted here. Ive been sick for 13 years now. I was a patient of Dr.B's on Long Island and when he closed his practice, I "followed" his PA into NYC.

Well...all within a year, my husband had some health issues and we have re-located to NC (right outside of Charlotte).

I found a primary care doc (for basic colds, etc.) and her recommendation was to travel back to NYC! I may wind up having to do this, I know, but am wondering.......

ARE THERE ANY LLMD'S DOWN HERE!?!?

1 good thing about being down here now..... very few cases of Lyme. I dont worry about my kids every time they walk outside anymore [Smile]

Thanks all [Smile]

In my opinion, you probably need to continue with the PA who is familiar with your situation.
But this would be an excellent time to help your primary care doc learn about LD.....if she's willing.

Give her a copy of Dr B's Guidelines and have her contact your PA in NYC.
If she's willing to do that, it'll be a win-win situation. Maybe you won't have to travel as much and she'll be better prepared when the next case of Lyme comes along.

Warning:
Don't feel safe in the South concerning LD.
It seems as if there are few cases, but in reality very few cases are diagnosed!!!
Many of those who have been diagnosed and treated have been to numerous doctors and eventually had to travel to LLMDs out of the area.

The doctors who recognize, diagnose and treat Lyme adequately are rare.
Drs have been told that Lyme is not a problem here and they believe it. One told me "We don't waste our time studying an illness that we'll see only one bizarre case in a lifetime."

Also, be careful year round because our winters are not cold enough to be safe from Lyme.

I'm hoping your local dr will be willing to work with the PA in NYC.
Good luck.
