Last week she came to me saying "I found a tick." It was in her hand, and it was tiny. The next day I noticed a welt on her neck. It was warm to the touch. Larger than a quarter, and oblong shaped. The following day I noticed that the welt had transformed to the bullseye rash.
I took a few pictures to have for my records.
My guess is that she pulled or scratched the tick from her neck.
I took her to our family care doctor the following day. He was unsure if it was lyme so decided to treat her anyway. With doxycyclene. Not one pharmacy in my area had this liquid form antibiotic available so we had to wait for them to order it.
The next day we visited the doctor again. Mind you we did not yet have the antibiotic. The doctor then says that since the bullseye rash had begun to fade, she did not need the antibiotic because a rash due to lyme would not fade without treatment.
I was going to give her the doxycyclene anyway but the pharmacist informed me that this medication is not for children under 8 years of age because it permanently stains the teeth yellow. I was unhappy with this so I did not get the meds.
I then called the doctor to see if he would switch the antibiotic and the nurse said that he was gone for the day and wouldn't return for 4 days. She told me to trust what the doctor had said if I was so paranoid about it then I should take her to the ER.
It is now the 4th of July holiday weekend so I must wait until Tuesday. I just feel that this should be taken more seriously and that I would like her to be treated now as opposed to waiting for symptoms down the road.
The doctor seems to believe that if the blood test comes back negative, then she does not have lyme. He scheduled the bloodwork for 10 days after seeing her for the rash. Which will be this coming Wed. July 6th. I was under the impression that the blood work could possibly be inaccurate for quite some time. I will be wondering if it is a false negative, and the doctor will just dismiss the problem as being solved.

Thank you all for getting back to me with so much information as quickly as you did. Her blood test came back negative from the doctor. I have made her an appointment with someone else who was suggested which is in two weeks.
My daughter just recently started this excessively eye blinking thing. At first I thought nothing of it. But it has been so frequent lately that something sparked me to wonder if it could be related to lyme? Any ideas?
