PM sent.

You most definitely need to get your daughter to a LLMD (Lyme-literate doctor) a.s.a.p. Please stay away from Infectious Disease docs -they have no clue about this horrible disease or its complex treatment!

Please break up your post into 2-3 sentence paragraphs, as there are some people on Lymenet who have neurological problems and cannot read large blocks of text. Thanks.

It's amazing there is a controversy to this insidious disease and I've found it easiest to show a couple of u tube video's on the controversy.

If you watch this video you can see some of the miss diagnosis.

This is our Lyme doctor. It took us 8+ months, 9 MD's, 2 Children's Hospital's before we started to learn about the controversy and find him.

Western Blot Explanation
http://flash.lymenet.org/ubb/ultimatebb.php/topic/1/42077

From the above link:

"With most infections, your immune system first forms IgM antibodies, then in about 2 to 4 weeks, you see IgG antibodies. In some infections, IgG antibodies may be detectable for years.

Because Borrelia burgdorferi is a chronic persistent infection that may last for decades, you would think patients with chronic symptoms would have positive IgG Western blots.

But actually, more IgM blots are positive in chronic borreliosis than IgG. Every time Borrelia burgdorferi reproduces itself, it may stimulate the immune system to form new IgM antibodies.

Some patients have both IgG and IgM blots positive. But if either the IgG or IgM blot is positive, overall it is a positive result.

Response to antibiotics is the same if either is positive, or both. Some antibodies against the borrelia are given more significance if they are IgG versus IgM, or vice versa."

+++++++

Inf disease drs aren't well-versed in Lyme disease.

You can always call Dr. J's office and ask if they have a cancellation, too.

I know there have been some complaints about Dr R in NYC but I have a friend who takes her 12 year old daugher to him and she swears by him.

The daugher has been seeing Dr. R for over a year (after 5+ years of the misdiagnosis) and he is treating the father as well. Father further along to recovery.
