I would like some information on lyme literate Dr 's in and around the northeast us. Conn, Ma, Ny area. If anyone can suggest a ,VERY good Dr, I would really appreciate it.
Have a friend that is very very sick with neurological Lyme. Has had bullseye rash twice. Has been on and off of antibiotics for the last 4-5 years, with no help. Currently off them now.
Has had blood tested with Igentics lab in Ca, to confirm neurological Lyme. Has done oral and iv treatments, but side effects from iv therapy, caused the Dr to stop treatment.
Symptoms, that I see and know of include.
Eyes no longer blink, (deer in headlights stare) all the time. Eyes no longer track movement Speech is slurred, and very slow. Memory is shot. Walking and sever gait issues. Sever falling to the point of broken bones, and sever black and blues throughout body. Loss of weight Motor functions have slowed dramatically. Exhaustion
I know that there is more, I just can't think right now. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Hi sid,
Welcome to lymenet!
If you edit the title of your post to say which states you need a LLMD for, people will be able to see at a glance what you need, and you will likely get more responses.
To edit, just click on the little paper and pencil icon above your post.
Then make any changes, and then click Edit Post.
People will be along who have experience with LLMD's in those states.

Sid - Your friend has neuro lyme, just like my mother; the IV antibiotics are the MOST effective for this, because they cross the blood-brain barrier, while orals don't do that very well.
Sounds like he/she was "herxing" due to an overload of killed bacteria in the blood - there are methods for helping folks to detox from this overload of dead bacteria, so that the patient can better tolerate the treatment. Please see the Medical Questions section of this website for tons of tips!
Latest studies of "neuro borreliosis" show that between 25-52 weeks of IV ceftraxione are needed to get people well again.
