I was bitten by a tick two weeks ago and I need to test for Lyme disease.

Anyone know of any goods LLMD's in northern NJ?

Thanks in advance!

Two weeks is too soon for the lyme test. It is a test to see if your body has produced antibodies to the lyme germ. It takes several weeks for your body to make antibodies and until you make antibodies, the test will not come back positive. (See the quote below for proof.)

If you would like treatment for the bite just in case it is lyme, try contacting your state's lyme support groups. Go to Support Groups on left side of page.

Ask them for names of docs who can see you quickly and who believe in treating a bite just in case it is lyme.

It could be difficult to find someone to do it. The true lyme doctors have long waits--months.

"After a tick bite, serologic tests (ELISA. IFA, western blots, etc.) are not expected to become positive until several weeks have passed." (page 7)

Of course, if you have a red rash (the bulls eye rash) where you got the bite, most doctors will at least give you a little treatment.

You can and should not only go to a lyme dr. and be on abx., if you don't have it..this way you will have a repor with someone the next time you are bit so you will be able to get abx right away. There are some great drs. in your state..i will privatly message them to you.

The following Lyme organizations give doctor referrals:
www.ILADS.org
www.lymediseaseasociation.org

Click on "Support Groups" in the upper left-hand corner of the Lymenet page, then "NJ". Contact information will come up. Maybe they can help you.
