Hello,
My name is Sherri, I was diagnosed with Lyme Disease in early September by my MD. Although I do not know the exact date of infection, I know that it was sometime in May, approximately 6 months ago. A rash developed in early June. By the time I went to have it checked out in early September, I was experiencing muscle pain, spasms, random rashes, heart palpitations and joint pain/stiffness. As I stated, a blood test in early September diagnosed me with lyme, and my doctor started me on 30 days (200 mg per day) of doxycycline hyclate. As of today, almost 30 days later, I am still experiencing these symptoms, just not as pronounced as they were a month ago. The problem is that I've also developed, within the past three weeks or so, a new symptom....cracking of just about every joint in my body and my joints still ache and hurt. I contacted my doctor this afternoon because my doxy runs out in two days, and I was hoping that, after telling him I still do have symptoms, he would extend the antibiotic a couple of weeks so that I don't have to start this regime all over again. He refuses to do so, telling me that the 30 days of Doxy should have cleared this up and for me to take ibuprofen for joint pain until I go to my next appt with him. Well, as we know, Ibuprofen is NOT going to clear up the lyme that I know is still in my system. I get the distinct impression that he is looking at this in a strictly black and white sense. I am desperately hoping that you may be able to help me get into contact with a LLMD in my area. I feel this is the only way I will eventually be able to get better. I live in Amsterdam, NY and my options for transportation are limited, so if you know of a lyme literate doctor close to Amsterdam/Albany area, I would very much appreciate any help you may be able to provide in contacting him or her.

Thank you very much.
Sherri
