My son's long time girl friend (18y/o) in Chester County PA was just diagnosed with MS because of lesions to brain. She was having double vision at college MRI and CT scans revealed lesions. Spinal tap negative for infections, therefore diagnosis of MS.

Drs at Jefferson Univ. Hosp practically rolled their eyes when asked to test for Lyme. Elisa and spinal tap were negative for Lyme. No western blot or other lyme tests done.

Looking for neurologist in local area who is lyme literate. Any good suggestions would be appreciated. Especially since these doctors coerced her to do steroids for a couple days before they discharged her. I'm sure this complicated the issue!

Need to get here somewhere before they really mess her up. I have thought she had lyme years ago. Please advise.

Topic: Could (misdiagnosed) MS be Lyme?

Many links here about the Lyme-MS connection -

Also detail about other tick-borne infections, other stealth infections (such as Cpn) that can cause "MS" as well as environmental causes & complexities.

You might pass the link above and those below to your friend so that she can see the solid reasons WHY you are concerned.

What ILADS is & WHY you need an ILADS "educated" or "minded" Lyme Literate doctor (whether MD or ND, or both) - starting with assessment / evaluation.

I doubt you will find a lyme literate neuro. Get her to a good lyme doctor. We have some good ones in the D.C. and Baltimore area.

One in D.C. treats children and adults and will do telephone appointments after first in-person appointment. So, that is very doable.

Private message me for the name and info on this highly recommended doc.

Also, she could try to get her pcp to order an Igenex Western Blot for her.

She needs to be evaluated and treated by a Lyme-literate doctor (LLMD).

I don't know of any LL Neurologists in PA.

PM sent for PA (one of the top LLMDs).
