Hi all-

I'm afraid I'm at the very start of my journey.

After being diagnosed with sensorineural hearing loss on the left side last week, blood work tested positive for lyme disease.

My ENT suggested I contact an infectious disease doctor. All that I'm reading online makes me concerned that I should try to find an LLMD or at minimum someone who specializes in treating lyme.

I'm not sure how to start and am hoping for recommendations from others who've had good experiences.

In the past two days, I've started noticing constant ringing in my right ear as well, so I'm really anxious to be seen somewhere ASAP and get on proper treatment.

Hoping the hearing loss will not spread to both sides, and also hope it might ultimately be reversible!

I am in Swarthmore, just 20 minutes outside Philadelphia, so hoping to find a good practitioner not too far away.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

GreenEggsnHam - please stay away from Infectious Disease doctors. They have no clue about this horrible disease and its complex treatment.

PM sent to you for PA.

jimfcarroll - you need to write a new post instead of adding to an existing one. That way, more people will see it and respond.
PM sent to you with info also for PA.

Thank you bitten in Bergen! What to do when waiting lists are months long?!

GreenEggsnHam,

One option when waiting lists are months long, is to ask to be put on the cancellation list.

It is short notice, but if they get a cancellation, they can call you, so you can usually get in much sooner.

The best LLMDs have the longest waiting lists!
