EBreezy81 - your question is a very good one and not at all stupid. Lyme can cause neuropsychiatric problems as the bacteria do cross the blood/brain barrier.

Dr. B in NJ is a Lyme-literate psychiatrist/researcher who treats psych symptoms. If the patient needs to continue Lyme treatment, then he refers them to a LLMD (= Lyme-literate doctor)

One of the top LLMDs is also a Psychiatrist (he is in NY).

I also know of a LL Neurologist in PA who is also a Psychiatrist.

A LLMD/LL Psychiatrist can address both physical and psych problems caused by this horrible disease.

Read www.thehumansideoflyme.net which is excellent and was written by a since-retired LL Psychiatrist.
