Hi, Need helping finding a lyme literate doctor in Hawaii, on island of Oahu. I lived in upstate NY for 25 years and have been bitten by a tic previously without rash. Currently experiencing odd and overwhelming (and unexplained) symptoms and trying to find a doctor who will order diagnostic testing for me in Hawaii is presenting a real challenge. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Aloha and welcome to Lymenet!

You should put 'in Hawaii' in the title of your post so people will know what state you are looking for. Click on the paper & pencil icon, make your changes, then click 'Edit post'. I think (hope) that that should do the trick!

Check the online state Lyme groups at:
http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/hawaiilyme

Maybe they can help you.

Some more resources for you:

Read "Cure Unknown" by Pamela Weintraub. Check your local library or buy it used on Amazon.

If I remember hearing correctly over the years, there are no Lyme docs in Hawaii. I believe most of them travel to CA. You might receive more replies if you put in your heading where you are looking for a doc. I would also put where you are willing to travel to.
My doc can do phone consults between visits so really cuts down on travel.
Hope you get answers soon. Sorry you are sick!

You can order the IGeneX testkit for free, then see whether you can find a doc who will order the IgM and IgG Western blot tests, as well as any co-infections if you want to check for any.

The doctor does not need to be a Lyme doctor to sign off on the tests. We can help you interpret results. Sounds like you will need a knowledgeable Lyme-treating doctor though.
